Vibe Research is step 1 of the vibe coding workflow. It is the /vibe-research skill and the research stage in the web app. You use it to test an app idea before you write a PRD.
It asks questions for a vibe coder, a developer, or someone in between. After you confirm the summary, it gathers current information and writes a research note. The note covers competitors, technical recommendations, tools, the features to build first, risks, cost estimates, and next steps.
The skill saves that note to docs/research-[AppName].txt. The web app keeps the research artifact in the project so the PRD step can read it.
How to use Vibe Research
- Install the skill with the command on this page, or download the SKILL.md file.
- In a compatible coding agent, run
/vibe-research. - Answer one question at a time. Confirm the summary before the research runs.
- Read the note and correct anything that is only an assumption.
- Continue with the PRD skill or the PRD stage in the app.
